Cardiac & Canyon X
Along with Canyon X is another breathtaking jewel that is a sister-canyon of X, Cardiac Canyon. Cardiac is carved out of the Navajo Sandstone, as is Antelope & X. Cardiac is located in the same drainage as Antelope, but is a ways upstream. The canyon, like X & Antelope, is on the Navajo Nation. We are the only tour company permitted to enter this slot canyon. Along with great photos and a lot of slots, you get a wide variety of canyon. There are areas you have to "chimney" (Climb) up to get to other sections of the canyon. It's a bit more remote than all of the others, and really has a lot to offer. The tour starts out with a 2 mile hike through the desert to get to the access point of cardiac canyon. You will have to descent down a steep sand dune to reach the bottom of the canyon. All together you have to hike 7 miles to get through the canyon, then into canyon X, then back to the vehicles. It can be grueling and very hot. Only recommended for experienced hikers, suited to hiking outdoors in hot conditions. You could also visit in a cooler time of year to avoid the heat. Scheduling only one tour per day with a maximum of six people. This is currently an exclusive adventure with access and transportation by Licensed Navajo Nation Guide Charly Moore, owner of Overland Canyon Tours. Departure and return times vary depending on time of year or your personal needs and schedule.
The price for this 6hr.-7hr. tour is $160.00 per person including tax, Navajo fees and a sack lunch with your choice of ham, turkey, roast beef or vegetarien. Please let us know if you have any dietary needs.
